The most important achievements of the municipality
June 1998-March 31, 2006)

Construction and maintenance:

•Building the sea boulevard which expands from the port of Amchit (Mina) until “Camping Amchit”, and setting the necessary plans to complete it till it reaches Jbeil, thus the boulevard will link the port of Amchit with the old port of Jbeil.

•Maintaining most walls of the town’s streets.

Building a road that was drawn in the general plans, from the Wardiyyeh Street.

•Setting southern accesses for the town to the highway and restoring a public garden with a parking.

•Building stairs on the highway sides to help citizens.

•Rehabilitating the road from Al Akdeh Street to Kfarsaleh Street, by building walls and paving the road.

•Rehabilitating the road from the principal road to Kfarkakhleh Street next to the Lycée School of Amchit.

•Paving the road from Al Arbeh Street to Al Akdeh Street.

•Rehabilitating the Bchach beach next to the port of Amchit.

•Rehabilitating Amchit square- the military Square, it also includes appropriating several buildings, and setting the plans for the square. These works were all supervised by the engineer Zafer Suleiman, as to the rehabilitation of the “Al Bayt Al Tourathi” was supervised by the engineer Antoine Lahoud Lahoud.

•Building a public garden in which there is a public fountain (filter), with the cooperation of the Lebanese-Japanese Friendship Association, and building another fountain in the Al Kateh Street.

•Paving most internal roads, with the support of the municipality and associations.

•Rehabilitating the Mrayjeh Street, enlarging and paving the roads.

•Improving the public lighting system so that it will cover the entire town’s streets, and adding more than one thousand lights.

•Carrying out studies in order to set plans for the beach of Amchit (Al Maykli) and Fartouch and the road linking the highway to the principal road in Amchit on the northern entrance (Gharfine), as well as setting propositions regarding the classification of Amchit.

Administrative equipment and others:

•Supplying the municipality with computers, a camera and administrative and financial programs, this resulted in improving the performance and the services offered by the municipality.

•Creating a website for the town of Amchit (http://www.aamchit.com/) and adopting a slogan for the municipality.

•Building additional rooms in the municipality building such a waiting room, and buying a special jeep for the municipality.

•Creating waiting stations in some of the town’s streets.

•Supplying the roads and streets with traffic signs for important and old places.

Cultural and social activities:

•Opening of the cultural center of Amchit "Zakirat Amchit" for public in November 2006

•Providing aid for charity, cultural and social associations, helping religious parishes, the club of Amchit and the public schools.

•Supporting the publishing of a book named: The Commision of Amchit Municipality, author: Mr. Mikhael Ersanios.

•Supporting the publishing of a book about the Amchitian author Afifeh Karam, written by the researcher Barbara Al Badawi, and honoring the distinguished students in the official exams, and honoring Miss Jbeil, and organizing national celebrations, especially the Lebanese Army Day in the first of august.

•Twinning Amchit with Durazno in Uruguay

•Twinning Amchit with a city in Argentine

Environment and cleanness:

•Planting trees on the roads sides, cleaning the streets, fighting insects, spraying insecticides, removing the garbage, controlling periodically the cleanness of water, issuing circulars about avian flu and many other issues related to health and security.
